What Makes a Walk in Tub Great?

Walk in tubs are great in general because they are so useful and helpful to so many people. They were originally invented to help people with a disability/handicap and/or for someone who is elderly and has mobility problems. They are designed specifically to aid those who have a difficult time getting in and out of the bathtub independently. Many people spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on band-aid type products to add to their traditional bathtub like a bath bar and bath chair to make it easier to bathe themselves or their loved ones. However they come to realize that traditional bathtubs just weren't designed for aiding those with physical impairments and while adding a grab bar or something similar may take the edge off, it doesn't come close to the goal of having a safe, comfortable, convenient and independent bath. This is why the walk in bathtub is so ingenious. Don't think of walk in tubs as only for the elderly or handicapped though. For me, it's been the "luxury" features that make some walk in baths stand out above their competition. This makes them enjoyed by even more people young and old. My mother isn't handicapped or elderly (Well she is heading into "senior-hood"), however she deals with physical ailments that would make a walk in tub great for her. She suffers from scoliosis, fibromyalgia and varicose veins. Even for her getting in and out of the bath can be more work than it's worth. Not only would it help make her bathing experience easier she would also enjoy the gentle massage and other "extras" you get with bathing in a walk in tub. On top of that she would feel better overall as her ailments improved due to the hydrotherapy benefits her body would receive. I know many parents (including myself) who would enjoy a long soak in a walk in bathtub as well after a long hard day.
